Privacy Policy
Your privacy is of paramount importance to us. This Privacy Policy describes how grepcode.net ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, processes, and protects your information when you use the InterLoop mobile application and services (collectively, the "App").
1. Information We Collect
To provide location tracking and AI assistant features, we collect the following categories of data:
- Real-time Location Data: The App requires continuous background GPS access to share coordinates with your circle members. We only collect location data when location sharing is active inside your joined groups.
- Account Information: We collect your email address and password hash during registration to authenticate your account and manage group invitations.
- Sensor and Motion Data: We access device accelerometer and step counter inputs to optimize GPS query frequency, saving battery life when stationary.
- AI and Landmark Interaction Data: When you actively use the AI Companion, Smart Translator, or location-aware guide features ("About this Landmark" / "About this City"), we collect your text or voice prompt transcript, immediate conversation history, language preference, and the specific latitude and longitude coordinates of the landmark or city you query.
2. How Your Data is Shared
We enforce strict privacy constraints on your information:
- Circle Location Sharing vs. AI Landmark Lookups:
- Family Circle Sharing: Continuous real-time location is shared strictly with authorized members of groups you have joined. Your continuous location track is NEVER shared with AI providers.
- Landmark & City AI Queries: When you explicitly trigger "About this Landmark" or "About this City", the target geographic coordinates and resolved place names are transmitted to our AI proxy gateway to query public encyclopedia databases (Wikimedia / Wikipedia APIs) and generate summaries using our third-party AI providers (Google Gemini by Google LLC and OpenCode Zen).
- Third-Party AI Services Protection (Guidelines 5.1.1(i) & 5.1.2(i)): We require all third-party AI providers (including Google LLC and OpenCode) to provide the same or equal protection of user personal data as described in this policy. These providers are prohibited from using your prompts, conversation history, or geographic queries to train or fine-tune their AI models, and this data is never used for user profiling, advertising, or commercial tracking.
- PII Protection: Our backend AI gateway includes automated guardrails that actively scan for and block requests containing Personal Identifiable Information (PII)—such as email addresses, phone numbers, SSNs, and credit card numbers—rejecting them before they ever reach our third-party AI providers.
- No Data Brokerage: We do NOT sell, rent, or lease your location data, logs, or personal information to marketing, advertising, or data brokerage companies.
3. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full ownership of your data:
- Rolling Cleanup: Location coordinate history is automatically pruned and removed from our active database tables periodically.
- Complete Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time directly in Settings by clicking "Delete Account". This will instantly purge your profile, group memberships, and all coordinates from the database permanently.
4. Security
We implement secure TLS encryption (HTTPS) for all data transferred between the App and our backend servers. Secret keys and passwords are encrypted and securely stored using Keychain and operating system sandboxing.
